So did the “people’s democracy” of the USSR. Ever read it?

• 1936 USSR Constitution: Fundamental Rights and Duties of Citizens
• 1977 USSR Constitution: The Basic Rights, Freedoms, and Duties of Citizens of the USSR

Those are “rights” granted by the government that could be taken away at the government’s whim, remember. Plenty of US politicians wanted to copy that, as well (e.g. FDR’s “Second Bill Of Rights”) . . .
