Told the story before on fr but when I was Senior Ed at Off-Road.com back in the late 80s, we were highly involved in landuse issues for obvious reasons. Most of the places we fought for then are off limits to most activities today, motorized and not, because many off-roaders were willing to give in to the incrimentalism used by the eco groups.

They accepted ‘lesser evils’ by agreeing to shut down this or that trail in exchange for another elsewhere staying open.

They got both closed when the ecos came back with ‘border zones’ and other crap. Then they compromised their ‘purity’ again and again and again.

And then as today, people with my view were shouted down and told we were the problem...

But we weren’t were we. We were right and the land got closed.

Something to ponder.

” They accepted ‘lesser evils’ by agreeing to shut down this or that trail in exchange for another elsewhere staying open.”

The old adage “give em an inch, and they will take a mile”
has held true in every instance. With Obama, just multiply the severity of giving an inch.
