Obama prom pictures surface

More than 30 years after he graduated high school, President Obama's senior prom pictures have emerged in public, featuring the president when he was 17 years old, clad in a white sport coat and a lei, posing for pictures with his friends.

The photos, obtained by TIME, show Mr. Obama, then a student at Punahou School in Hawaii, hanging out with his date Megan Hughes, his friend Greg Orme, and Orme's date Kelli Allman (then McCormack), according to Allman, who provided the photos to TIME.

"It was a really fun, happy time. We were all cracking up, and everyone was smiling," Allman told TIME. "It was pretty typical from there out as far as what happens at prom: the dinner and the dancing and the photos."

I’m glad you agree about the ‘everything’s a Photoshop’ false meme. Our government has caused some of that by putting out false material too.

I’m a smoker and you’ve got me looking at that picture over and over, trying to figure it out - but it’s not a big concern of mine, lol. I hope we all learn the truth about some things.....someday.....

I agree, it’s not a big concern, I just resent the diversion. And that’s because I had an ashtray just the right size and shape to fit that image, it had little round balls around the edge, and they were just the right size to look like knuckles.

I kept waiting for a flood of pictures and stories from hundreds of people who *knew him when* as you would expect for someone who became and instant celebrity, but strangely there were very. very few pictures and stories.

Yes the boy was truly a "ghost", I totally agree. Then have the MSM use all their resources investigating Joe the Plumber's trade license and the DNA of Palin's Down Syndrome child and you have a "news blackout".

Of course everyone will spend months (decades?) dissecting the images, even they are are perfectly conventional prom pictures. Two couples, dressed up, enjoying the “best time of their lives.” Utterly normal, utterly generic.

Much more notable to me is the inscription in the young lady’s yearbook. We have so few samples of his writing from before he supposedly wrote the memoir that many dubbed world-class writing. The little bit from law school, that one poem that is indeed horrid - but then, Pulitzer novelists are capable of horrid poetry, so that doesn’t prove much.

Here is a sample from when he’d every reason to want to say something memorable - this is when you’d want to creative. You’d think about it, compose it in your head. This is when any innate talent could be expected to flicker and foreshadow future glories.

But, here, there’s notable nothings. And he misspells. He is grammatically awkward. This ... is utterly generic prose, from a conventional, average American kid. This inscription has been written in a million yearbooks by a million average American kids. Not a creative construction, nothing clever, not one interesting word choice or turn of phrase.

My verdict: this writer is a prose stylist of slightly below average ability and sensibility. This is not Harvard material. This is not the person who would go on to write “Dreams from my Father.”

You left out my favorite sample of Obama’s writing. This excerpt from one of the ‘Constitutional’ law exam questions from his U of Chicago days:

“Law week, two men, Richard and Michael, walked into you office and asked for your help.

You learn that they are a monogamous, gay couple who have been living together for the past ten years. Both men are successful architects, and after devoting the past decade on their respective careers, they have now decided that they want to marry and raise children together.”

AS a toddler, one side of his head had very little hair...I often wondered, did he have an injury from an instrument during a perhaps difficul birth?

First of all, he appears to have had a large skull-raised forehead right from the start. Then he seems to have had less hair on one side of his head than the other as a toddler. Then, as an adult he has scars on one side of his head/ear/neck - but that's on the left, where-as the sparse hair growth was on the right. Without any medical records, who knows? This image suggests some 'work' - but there was nothing wrong with that same ear when he was a child.

With this entity, there is such a black hole of mystery. Who/what/when/where/with whom/from whom - not much is actually known at all.

I'm sticking with my ...the tribal elder attacked him with a panga and tried to cut his throat when he found out he was trying to insinuate himself into the family...after the old man's funeral.

African justice is nasty and swift. Just read 'Dark Star Safari' by Paul Theroux.

If anyone had the wit, they would be checking hospital records for a severely injured 'David' Obama in the period around early 1983. I imagine there would be a photograph on record of a young man who looks just like his mirror image, who didn't fall off a motorbike.

But that's just me. I'm out of kilter with the myth and it's numerous, various aftershocks.
