You know you are a serious societal pestilence when even politicians can kick you around. Which is why the Senate Finance Committee called Steven Miller, former acting IRS commissioner, to testify about the agencys scheme targeting conservatives for tax punishment.
Right away, Mr. Miller got down to the business of reminding everyone why we all hate the IRS so much.
Unfortunately, given time considerations, he began, the IRS was unable to prepare written testimony.
Given time considerations? Unable to prepare? Are you kidding us?
Have you ever heard of April 15? Can you imagine if we called up the IRS and said, Given time considerations, we were unable to prepare our tax filings today.
Under the threat of a gun and promise of jail time, we file our taxes precisely on time every year. Without fail. Without excuse. Without complaint. Everyone has heard the nightmares of ruinous IRS penalties aimed at destroying lives, families and livelihoods for missing those deadlines.
But given the time constraints, you werent able to prepare? Tell that to the thousands of small business owners who have gone bankrupt because they couldnt make payments on time. Or failed to file proper tax returns.
Mr. Miller has hooded eyes with a thick carpet of hair creeping down his forehead like a bed of meatballs sliding off a mound of spaghetti. He became unhinged when Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, Utah Republican, accused him of lying by omission for not telling the senator about the scheme when he first asked about it.
I did not lie, Meatball spat at Mr. Hatch. I did not lie.
How would that go over with the IRS? I did not lie. I just didnt include that particular part of income in my filing.....

I’ve said that all along. Want to cause some really tough love.
Don’t pay.
It’s like Lerner saying, “I didn’t do anything wrong”.
Okay, who are you shilling for that did do something wrong?
I wanna plead the 5th exemption.
There is witholding that most of us pay month by month or even week by week.
If we just stop withholding, that will give a large message long before April.
What If We Don’t Pay Taxes Next April?
That, my friend, would require conservatives loving their families more than worshipping Mammon.
Through my long years as a village and county council representative, I can assure you that most conservatives care more about dollars for themselves than freedom for their children.
How do I know that? Well, property taxes have been increasing for 30 years, and conservatives haven’t objected.
If you are STILL working....up your exemptions to 9....that way you can reduce the amount the IRS receives each paycheck (but plan to set aside enough to pay next April....unless of course you don’t)
Per the W-4 instructions, you can claim up to 10 exemptions without calculation. Over 10 you have to justify the number you are claiming.
I’ve read that about 20% (or is it 25%) of people who “should” pay taxes - just don’t file.
How many people can they arrest/jail/etc? There are only so many of them, and almsot unlimited amounts of us.
I don’t think that no one cares, but no one knows what to do. Look what happened to Col. Lakin - one man stood up, and no one supported him. Well, a few did, but no one who could do anything. And he got the shaft.
Strength is in numbers.
I dont think anybody is suggeting not filing, but increasing exemptions could send a message. It would push revenue into the next fiscal year, post 9/30.
When April comes around you could pay the shortfall or request an installment agreement. However, the IRS may request you withhold at a certain number of exemptions.
It is a short term strategy to send a message that we want action on the IRS scandal.
Plan to set aside enough to pay your liability in April *plus* the penalty for under-withholding. Yes, there is a penalty for being under-withheld. I got nailed a couple times by that one.
Be advised that if sufficient tax is not paid into withholding there may be a penalty. I am not a tax guy, and am not qualified to give tax advice. I just want folks to know that the IRS doesn’t have much sense of humor.
See, they figure they can play politics with taxes and noone can stop them, but if we was to do it, they would feel it their right and duty to stop us.
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet. If anyone thinks the Partisan Media Shills and spinmeisters aren’t salivating over that prospect, they’re nuts.
Oh, well, then, forget it.
Not only as you have said, your employer can be sent a withholding order from the IRS to mandetory W-4 filing of single/0. The IRS doesn’t play well with others.
what if all taxpayers didn’t pay. and defended each other when irs came by.

Sorry: It’s irrelevant; I didn’t know; I just found out about it; It’s a bump in the road; It was a long time ago; I’m investigating myself to make sure it doesn’t happen again; Whether I forgot to pay or not, at this point what difference does it make; It was the video?
I doubt any of those would work.
