Signaling that it intends to conduct an aggressive investigation into how the Internal Revenue Service targeted certain conservative-leaning groups, the Senate Finance Committee has asked the agencys outgoing acting commissioner to document any communications with top Obama administration officials about the unfolding scandal.
Sens. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah), who lead the Finance Committee, wrote to Steven T. Miller on Monday making 41 specific requests for information. They include documentation of all attempts to elicit information from groups seeking tax-exempt status; a list of all the words and phrases used to target applicants for additional scrutiny; how IRS officials discovered that employees were inappropriately targeting certain groups; and all internal communications between employees working to review the groups.
Additionally, the senators ask Miller for documents relating to communications between any and all IRS employees and any and all White House employees, including but not limited to, the President, regarding the targeting of organizations seeking tax exempt status. The senators also want to see any written communication, memos, policy drafts, or other documents related to the IRSs consideration of tax-exempt status since 2009.
These actions by the IRS appear to be a clear breach of the publics trust, the senators wrote in their letter to Miller. Targeting groups based on their political views is not only inappropriate but it is also intolerable.

Been hearing the past couple of days that the IRS union structure would be the conduit through which this illegal persecution could be easily arranged.
People, please contact your reps and senators and make sure they understand, it wouldn’t be necessary for the WH to go through Treasury or IRS officials to get this done: Union thugs at the IRS could easily do it.
And that there is a known link from Obama personally to this union.
You keep posting that nonsense about Colleen Kelly meeting with Obama on 3/31/10. She attended a conference at the Old Executive Office Building, along with 100+ others. No evidence that she “met with” Obama.
Hey Max and Urine, I am sure Miller will send you a salutory “Go Eff yourself” immediately by return mail in a month or two after he’s made it to his “retirement villa “ on the Cote du Jour. The only way anyone will get Miller is by putting a bounty on his head.
Boy a good comrade and make sure you tied your shoelaces correctly.
“Conscience of a Conservative”. Think about that choice of screen name vis a vis that last comment. Trollish, if you ask me.
Nonsense. You are the one who is blindly following the original story re: Kelly meeting with Obama, without doing the slighest bit to verify it. We should be above that sort of baseless speculation - leave that nonsense to the Left.
The whole story about Kelly meeting with Obama in the White House is based on nothing more than the WH visitor logs. Those logs are available online. You can look at them yourself, and see that, in addition to Kelly, there are 116 other people who visited the OEOB on 3/31/10 for the "Workplace Flexibility Forum." You can see what time each person signed in (all ~1200). You can see what time each person signed out (all ~1700-1730).
Still holds up as one of the best Conservative books ever written.
It’s in the White house visitors log.....
National Treasury Employees Union President Colleen Kelley, who represents IRS employees, met with Obama the day before the decision was made to profile conservative groups. Until I read this today I had been trying to imagine how a team of political operatives could orchestrate the audits without raising an alarm. The answer is they were always there—in all the IRS offices across the country—in the person of IRS employees who were also partisan union activists.
Is it my imagination or does Ms. Ingram look like the Church Lady? Definitely looks like a guy in drag...very scary-looking - a Nurse Ratchet type if I ever saw one.
No, it's not. That's the point. The visitor log does show that she visited the WH (or, to be more precise, the Old Executive Office Building) on 3/31/10. That's the basis for the original American Spectator article on this issue, and all the others that followed. But, if you look at the actual visitor log (rather than just trusting the initial report), the log shows that she was at the OEOB for a "Workplace Flexibility Forum," and that there were 116 other attendees at the conference.
Oh, crap."
Clever though you may be (or think you are) — I had a brief look at your posting history and I stand by my original comment.
I think you bat for the other team.
BS. Having higher standards than the other team (e.g., not jumping on every story that makes Obama look bad, even if the story’s not true) doesn’t mean that I “bat for the other team.”
Ask the IRS?
How about demand, cuss, scream, yell, throw things...
Thanks Brad from Tennessee.
