Justice Department affidavit labels Fox News journalist as possible ‘co-conspirator’

A Fox News correspondent was accused in a Justice Department affidavit of being a possible criminal "co-conspirator" for his alleged role in publishing sensitive security information -- in a leak case that takes the highly unusual step of claiming a journalist broke the law.

According to court documents, the Justice Department obtained a portfolio of information about Fox News' James Rosen's conversations and visits to the State Department. This included a search warrant for his personal emails.

The effort follows that by the department to secretly obtain two months of phone records from Associated Press journalists as part of a separate leak probe. The department in this case, though, went a step further -- as an FBI agent claimed there's evidence the Fox News correspondent broke the law, "at the very least, either as an aider, abettor and/or co-conspirator."

Michael Clemente, Fox News' executive vice president of news, defended Rosen in a statement issued Monday afternoon.

"We are outraged to learn today that James Rosen was named a criminal co-conspirator for simply doing his job as a reporter," Clemente said. "In fact, it is downright chilling. We will unequivocally defend his right to operate as a member of what up until now has always been a free press."

Here’s the thing... These tactics might be understandable if the government were actually trying to locate someone who was leaking national security information, you know, actual ‘spy stuff.’ Like, say, publishing classified details of an effort to find international terrorists. (I’m looking you, New York Times.) But what we have here is the government trying to figure out who is exposing its inner secrets.

In other words, this isn’t a case of a government trying to protect the country. This is a government trying to protect itself.

A competent judge should toss this out so fast that it bounces at least four times as It travels down the road towards the ash heap.

Are there any left that haven’t been corrupted by Democrat politics? That’s the question.

obamas orders. He hates Fox because they are exposing his corruption so his lap dog Holder is going after them. They are trying to create scandal where there is none.

Yup. The self-admitted constitution-hating Marxist Obama has been doing all in his usurped power to go around the constitution and around the congress and these reporters were simply exercising their constitutional rights to report on it. Freedom of the press does not apply under Obama’s fascist rule!!

Barack HUSSIEN Obama’s administration investigating James Rosen of Fox News, who just happens to be Jewish.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Sadly, since Rosen works for Fox, those who are even slightly left of center will be easily convinced that Rosen deserves whatever comes his way.

There is a chilling comparison for this type of national group think.

I was scrolling through the channels this afternoon and stumbled upon that airhead Ashleigh Banfield over at CNN. At 3:45 she stated that the DOJ accused a Fox reporter of leaking information and "they are, of course, hopping mad" and then Jake Tapper was supposed to come on after the break but Ashleigh got very interested in a tornado in Oklahoma so she never got back to the story.

She's lengthening the interview with the meterologist, asking about the population of OK City, and also suggesting to the fair citizens of OK how to prepare themselves for the tornado. Anything to avoid speaking about violations of the First Amendment. Quite bizzare!!

This is a government trying to protect itself.

Exactly... It's Obama reminding his sycophantic propaganda ministry of their place: How dare they stray from his plantation by objecting to the AP phone record seizure.

The Obama administration is probably rejoicing, as this tornado will take Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the IRS, and the investigations of the press off the front page.

You can expect them to take maximum advantage of this crisis, just like they milked Hurricane Sandy.

Names and photos of the FBI agent and the judge who signed off on this need to be publicized on a daily basis. Requests should be constantly made for them to justify their actions.
