Kaitlyn Hunt, 18, had her entire life before her. Graduation. College. Job prospects. The high school senior was just preparing to start her life when she found herself expelled and slapped with criminal charges over her engagement in a same-sex relationship. And what started as a relationship between two young women has snowballed into a legal battle that could land Hunt in prison.
The story has many twists, turns and oddities. And so far, only one side that of Hunt family is being told. The high school senior apparently met her girlfriend, who is now 15-years-old, on the school basketball team at Sebastian River High School in Sebastian, Florida; the two began dating at the beginning of the school year.

Thank you. I don’t know why he wanted to hang out with FReepers anyway. According to him, Bible believing Christians are “cretarded.” Good riddance to bad rubbish.
I suggest you take a course in logic.
Or maybe don’t try so hard to find things that aren’t there.
NON CONSENSUAL TOUCH IS A CRIME WHATEVER THE AGE.
Children cannot consent. Neither can those with mental disabilities. Period. Ever.
Thank you, kind sir.
I just think it’s ridiculous to go after an 18 year old for dating a 15 year old, especially if they were dating a year earlier, at 14 and 17, and it wasn’t illegal. It’s a three year age difference. If I had a young daughter and she had a boyfriend 3 years older, I’d certainly be the most cumbersome third wheel that boy ever encountered, but if they were attached to each other, and he seemed like a nice enough sort, I wouldn’t suddenly consider him a criminal when he turned 18 if he wasn’t one when he was 17 and they were already together.
Then why are you spending so much time defending the homosexual molestation of a teenage girl by a young woman?
Why do you continue to accuse me of something I haven’t done?
I don’t believe in any kind of sex outside of marriage, let along homosexual or lesbian sex.
I just don’t think that involving the law was the correct way to handle this. The parents are going to ruin the life of this girl, and are well on the way to ruining the life of their daughter. In fact, I’m more worried about their daughter than the other girl. Her name has been dragged through the mud where she will be judged by the Christian community, and the homo folks will be pouncing on her to be their next spokesperson. She will likely engage in the lifestyle out of defiance to them. Good job, parents.
I’ve stated similar opinions several times. And I’d be willing to be a lot of money on this...if I were a gambling woman, but I hate gambling.
Pointless trying to reason some people.
Sad to say, but too many kids in public school really “do” experiment with sexuality these days.
These parents have probably just assured us of two more committed, defiant feminazi lesbians. I’m sure neither will be real likable by the time they’re thirty.
Had only common sense prevailed instead.
Oh, there’s lots of girls walking around our high school hand in hand. They are definitely experimenting. I tend to think that at least they won’t get pregnant that way, which is a big problem in this neighborhood.
Putting an end to the abuse is not going ruin the victim’s life. Do you think all rape victims should continue to be raped, to save them the embarrassment of the abuser facing charges? Or is there something special about this Romea and Juliet love story that makes you think there’s more harm in ending it than endorsing it?
"I dont think wed expect all hell to break loose if a boy was dating a girl 3 years younger."
Exactly that happened in 1967 or '68 in South Carolina. Columbia or Charleston area, I don't really recall which. The parents of a 14 year old told a football player of some note that they didn't permit their daughter to day yet, that he was too old to be dating her and to leave her alone. The two kids got caught making out in his car at a local shopping mall and the guy escaped being branded for life only because the court thought the daughter saying they had sex was coerced testimony. If they guy hadn't had a really good reputation and record up to that point I bet they'd have decided differently.
They could prove she was no longer a virgin but they couldn't prove he was the one responsible for her loss of virginity. I heard he got some sort of probation but I can't think of why that would be if he was acquitted. The consensus of folks talking about it seemed to be that the parents should have gotten a warrant on him that said he couldn't be around her (a peace warrant is what it's called in a lot of states) and not pressed the matter beyond that unless he violated the warrant.
The parents had the money, the ego, and an attorney on retainer due to their business concerns, though, and they set out to ruin the guy. They very nearly did, too. The funniest thing to me was a few years later the parents wanted the court to seal the records and the issue was whether they could seal them or not since the defendant was eighteen at the time. I don't know how that worked out but given how money talks, I bet they got the records sealed due to her being a minor.
So, it may not be common, but people do make all hell break loose over exactly this sort of thing. I'd bet there are a lot of people who get a peace warrant in situations just like this far more often than people realize. There's nothing to getting a peace warrant on someone and it almost always solves the problem right away.
We wouldn’t want them punished with a baby.
Homosexual child molestation should be safe, legal and rare.
On second thought, homosexual child molestation is so ugly. Maybe we should just call it “dating.” And we could call the molester and victim Romeo & Juliet.”
I don’t think she was abused. She is still saying the behavior was consensual. It was an immoral high school romance.
Everyone in their community knows this girl was old enough to consent to another kid (boy or girl) in high school. All they did was ruin their daughter’s reputation within the christian community. What awful parents.
The parents are using a rarely used law to lash out, and their daughter is getting hurt just as much as the other girl. With parents like that.... sigh
Maybe so, but not within the Christian (with a capital C) community. We see things different than you self proclaimed "christians." See, we actually believe in God's Word.
So you’re perfectly fine with a 14 year old girl having sex.
Suppose her contraception does’t work? Would you favor your 14 year old daughter raising a child on her own, you the grandmother raising the child, or abortion?
Plesae answer, this is not a rhetorical question; since you think a 14 year old is perfectly capable of having an active sex life, what about if she gets pregnant?
So you’re fine with a 14 year old girl not only having sex, but perverted homosexual sex.
Okay, we know where you stand.
And your faux concern about her “reputation” is a charade. You realize you’re fooling no one, right?
Oh, and since you think age of consent laws are “stupid” if they focus on things like “birthdays” but are fine if both are within a few years of the same age, what age would be “too young” in your book? Since 14 is fine, what about 13? 12? 11?
Bullseye.
“Age of consent” is about prosecution.
Would you prosecute a fourteen year old for having sex with a thirteen year old if they both said it was consensual? SURELY, we both agree they are both too young to consent, but is there really a villain and victim in every act?
“And your faux concern about her reputation is a charade. You realize youre fooling no one, right?”
And you’re absolutely wrong. The older girl will be another hero of the left by the time this is finished. The younger girl will be shunned by a lot of christians, especially if she continues to say the behavior was consensual.
