A new, casually transmittable infection — a unique strain of bacterial meningitis — has cast a pall over the gay night life and dating scene, with men wondering whether this is AIDS, circa 1981, all over again. Seven men have died in New York City, about a third of diagnosed cases, since 2010. And in the last few months, the contagion seemed to be accelerating. It has targeted gay and bisexual men, and nobody knows exactly why.
The city’s best hope to curb the outbreak is to vaccinate as many at-risk men as possible, focusing on those most in danger: men who regularly hook up with other men whom they meet at parties, bars, clubs and through apps like Grindr. Dr. Don Weiss, the director of surveillance for the city’s Bureau of Communicable Disease, has called it “Russian roulette sex,” because “sooner or later, you are going to come across this organism and be exposed.”
The health department’s own vaccination efforts at several gay bars have had limited success. Men out partying want to have fun, not be told that they may fall prey to a lethal disease by doing so.

A look in the Book always gives us the way to live and what happens when we stray from the “straight” and narrow. We are all sinners saved by grace. The homosexual lifestyle is right up there with gossiping, lying, horoscope reading, etc. A sin is a sin and our nation is suffering from our discretions.

No, it has not targeted anyone. It is incapable of that. Certain people have made themselves more vulnerable to it.

It’s 1981 all over again. We have another ‘doctor’ in the article calling infection “exposure”, as if the disease is simply floating about in the open air and no one can be expected to avoid it. These people are truly sick.

Because repeated thrusting upward into the exit chute, where there are lots of tiny capillaries pointing downward that were never designed to handle upward friction, pushes infectious agents into the bloodstream.
And they can say this with a straight face (pun definitely intended).
That this infection seems to be predominant among gay men is probably just a weird coincidence like AIDS. The solution is to pass laws prohibiting the conduct of epidemiological investigations or reporting so that we don’t suspect misconduct on their part, because, after all, it couldn’t possibly be related to their lifestyle.
Lol. I know why.
It’s a shame there isn’t a simple way of preventing all these rampant diseases.
Not ironic at all is the mention of Lady Gaga’s ‘Poker Face’, which is riddled with homosexual innuendo.
