Video “I don’t know that hiding something from Congress is illegal”
Hot Air ^ | 5/19/13 | Jazz Shaw

For regular viewers of TV talking heads, Eleanor Clift is no stranger. She’s been making the rounds for years, currently working for Newsweek / Daily Beast, and is a regular feature on The McLaughlin Group. It was on the latter program where today’s feature video unfolded, with the venerable Ms. Clift once again tangling with Rich Lowry.

In this episode, the subject of the IRS investigation is once again on the table, and Clift has the clarity to cut to the heart of the matter. Her argument boils down what surely seems like a clear cut case of, “move along. Nothing to see here.” Because even if what everyone is saying happened actually did happen, then it was just some low level rogue tax drones. And it’s not like anybody broke any laws, right? So what’s the big deal? (H/T to RealClearPolitics)

No! These people are power mad Marxists. As far as they are concerned anything that they do is OK as long as it furthers their agenda.

I used to work for the IRS 30+ years ago. I was ordered by managers to do illegal things all the time. When I told them "we can't do that, it's against the law..." they would reply "...it is not, we can do anything we want...". they REALLY believed that just because we were the IRS we could do ANYTHING, and if we did ANYTHING it was legal because we were the law--not subject to it. The higher up in management you got the stupider they were. The fish stinks from the head down.

Let me help Eleanor Clift out.

It's called "advice and consent."

The Senate confirmed these government officers, and have the right to oversee their actions. At the very least, they have the responsibility to ensure that they weren't lied to when they initially consented and confirmed them.
