Former Gov. Mitt Romney, the Republican party's presidential nominee in 2012, received large applause as he was introduced on Friday's broadcast of The Tonight Show by host Jay Leno in his first appearance on the late night show since he lost to President Barack Obama in November.
Leno asked Romney about the Obama administration's scandal-plagued week and gave him ample time to address the AP, IRS and Benghazi investigations. After making it clear he was done in politics, Romney was given nearly ten minutes to slam Obama's handling of Benghazi and his administration's involvement in other scandals.
While discussing the IRS scandal, Romney said it is time that a special counsel be appointed to investigate. "My own view is, that a a special counsel should be appointed. Because only a special council can investigate the administration," he said.
After giving his take on how Obama handled the scandals, Romney also opined on how Benghazi may impact Hillary Clinton's chances in 2016.

There are far too many low information freepers.
I would still like for Romney to testify. As a Presidential candidate/potential CIC, he had to be briefed. What does he know?
I agree. And when he did try to bring up Benghazi he was savaged and shut down by the media.
The moment he said that he believes the President loves this country I turned off the tv and went to bed.
the sad thing is I don’t really think romney cared whether or not he became president...
the sadder thing is despite his flaws i think he would’ve been a really good president....
Unfortunately the problem with Bush #41, Bush #43 and Romney. Decent, respectable gentlemen. But they were (and we are) fighting a pack of hyenas who like nothing better than to rip a decent, respectable gentleman's lungs out.
why? wasn’t it apparent to you??? it was to me...
except for the 1st debate when he crushed obama, did he really show any passion at all down the homestretch towards winning the election???
I know. They are the same ones where were touting Mitt early on, and who are now touting Jeb, and who support obamneycare because it makes the young people pay for the old people's bad life decisions.
The 30,000 strong crowds in Ohio and Pennsylvania certainly thought so - they were on fire for Mitt and were eating his every word. There was no denying the Republicans had the passion now, the enthusiasm. Even if they didn’t quite have the ground operation to drag low info voters to the polls.
They are unencumbered by ethics because they believe that implementing their plans is inherently ethical - no matter how many unethical things they have to do along the way. They also believe that they are ‘special’ people, and that they are the ones that have to make these things happen. When you have that mixture of narcissism, delusional (and hate-filled) ideology, and lack of ethical brakes on what you will and will not do, you have really, really destructive and dangerous people that cannot be trusted in the slightest, who will lie with impunity without the guilt that makes most people's lies overtly perceptible, and who will not stop until they are absolutely made to stop (e.g. Hitler).
This is like a prizefight to them. People like Romney can dance around the ring, throw quick jabs, score points with quick combinations etc., but unless they knockout them out, their ideological narcissistic leftist opponents just go back to their corner and put brass knuckles in their gloves, caustic resin on the outside of their gloves, have their minions put poison in their opponent's water bucket, and then start the next round with a blow below the belt, a headbutt, and a thumb in the eye. That's the way they play, and if you don't know this and have a plan for how to deal with it, you will not succeed.
Any one know if Obozo can be recalled? Or is that impeachment?
Makes you wonder what is going on in his mind. It is obviously not true so Romney just makes this stuff up to sound nice. We dont need any more of this false talk.
In the meantime Obama claims republicans want dirty air, dirty water and the lees fortunate to fend for themselves...
And....This is the agency that will decide if you or your loved one qualifies for a transplant kidney or liver. So?....Do you think **that** won’t put a squash on political activism?
These people are evil.
A man who failed to investigate obvious fraud does not deserve to be president.
I doubt we will ever again have a Republican president.
If the majority were not so susceptible to propaganda Obama would be limited to the "tribal vote", maybe 20%.
Obama won by putting together the tribal vote, the true believers, and the low information voters. The media, of course, were his propaganda megaphone.
It is sad what passes for democracy in the west today.
This is especially true in the third debate, on foreign policy, in which, if I remember correctly, he never even mentioned Benghazi despite millions of conservatives yelling into their TV sets for him to do so.
Exactly my thoughts when I read about him last fall... I’m a network security guy. I too laughed when i found out that his expertise was in web dev. Lol.
Hey look at the pretty front end. Who cares about load balancing database capacity or system security.
Since 2000, I’ve worked with campaign staffers for GOP candidates...McCain, Romney, Bush in both Wisconsin and Colorado.
In Co, they were young, preppy looking lads with names like Cody and Matt.
Nice “kids”? You betcha. But showing up with a plan about how to actually win a state? Not a chance.
Frustrating that I knew way more than they did and I was just a volunteer.
How did these kids begin to quality for the positions of state “field directors” when they were not the slightest bit experienced or trained?
No organization and communication at all levels of the hierarchy was nonexistent. The weekly “conference calls” were a joke! Of course, with leaders like “The Bullet”, aka Steve Schmidt brought in to rescue a sinking McC. campaign...what can one expect?
McShame and Mittens. What was the GOP thinking? Two hand picked RINO non conservatives with no intent or ability to take the gloves off, do the hard work and prevent what should have been an easy defeat of the most dangerous president and force for evil that our country has ever known.
It should have been a walk for both of them. Their losses can be attributed in part to the dog and pony show imposed upon us by the ego driven, DC bubble insulated, Rove GOP establishment.
Thanks for nothin’ guys. Oh,and sorry but my contributions to the RNC are now being redirected to individual conservatives running for office. Or better yet, since many of them lie about their commitment to all things constitutional and are actually CINOS, I’m just going to send Ted Cruz a check and be done with it.
So, starting with McCain, losers have credibility in the Republican Party.
I say bull Shiite, schmoozing with a hyena only gets you eaten.
