Many people do just that.
I know highly educated people that use “feelings” to guide thier beliefs.
I have been giving some thought to the current excuse that the bam simply didn’t know what was going on with his subordinates. Nazi reference so bear with me. Hitler never said “I want you all to be brutish thugs and leave a trail of death and destruction whenever it crosses our path”. No, Hitler framed his message with lofty ideals like hope, change. and “payback” for perceived past wrongs. Now replace anti-semitism with anti-rich/bourgiousie talk, fairness and all the tired commie homilies and you’ll see where we are. One could argue that a great deal of the cohisiveness of the nazi party boiled down to the “wink wink nudge nudge” shared understanding that non-germans and jews should be targetted, and every one right down the foot soldier “knew” what was expected. They didn’t need orders from Berlin, they just knew. Those who shared the “vision” rose in the organisation naturally through this mechanism. Fast forward to now. Obama may never had said “attack conservatives with the IRS” but he most certainly gave the green light to perform audits, harrass and intimidate through his hitleresque speaches to adoring crowds where every teary-eyed liberal foot soldier walked away knowing “what to do”, and what was expected of them.
