What you say about the press is true. What you say about the officers is true.
I’ve seen some things that looked very bad for the officers up front, turn around later. I try to be a voice of reason. That quite easily appears to be tacit approval for a police state, something I try to touch on every so often.
I don’t think we need so many swat teams. If you have a swat team, they’re going to be called out when they not really needed, because they need to be used to being deployed so they can function more naturally.
Look at Waco. Those idiots down there rode up to the Koresh farm like it was a hay ride or something. It was foolish, unnecessary, overkill, and dangerous.
The local sheriff knew Koresh. They were casual acquaintances. Koresh often ran on the old dirt roads around the farm. He could have been taken in peacefully any time they wanted. Koresh helped other people with chores in the area. That’s what neighbors do on farms.
The Sheriff, the local social worker, the local residents, none of them had problems with Koresh. And what Koresh was doing on his farm was none of anyone else’s business as long as he wasn’t breaking the law. And they never did prove he was.
The Sheriff and the Social worker said they never found evidence he was doing anything wrong prior to the raid.
This is what I consider to be police state tactics. They did some of the same stuff at Ruby Ridge. There are aspects of the Oklahoma City bombing that very problematic.
There simply are no defenses for some things. I’m not convinced this situation we’re talking about here is one such instance, but I do think it could have been handled better.
What we don’t see, is the full video of what transpired before the footage we see. Did the officers explain in detail why they needed to have access? Did they explain they had to verify that all humans inside were safe before they could leave due to the litigation they would be exposed to if they didn’t? They may have. I’m not sure.
“The only thing that gets the to leve is permission to search your home.”
That’s fine, they can sit out on the porch as long as they want.
If only there was a video of the incident.
Well, it’s a feasible circumstance. That’s what some folks want to sign off on.
