I get your point, but Proctor, MN is a small town, I would guess, and the police there are probably regarded as part of the community. And who knows? Such a gesture might inculcate a certain level of goodwill that may prove helpful on down the road.
If I lived in New York City, and the police commissioner asked me to loan the department some ammo, I'd be with you in saying, "Get your own, pal. Life is tough all over." In a small town, it's a little different, in my estimation.

Ammo is the last thing they would get from me.That would depend entirely on the circumstances. For it may come to pass that we will indeed be sending ammunition to our local constabulary. One round at a time. Praying it won't come to that.
