Obama to Announce Major US Nuclear Force Cuts Soon
NewsMax ^ | May 15, 2013 | Bill Gertz

President Barack Obama is set to announce a new round of strategic nuclear warhead reductions in the near future as part of a disarmament agenda that could reduce U.S. strategic warheads to as few as 1,000 weapons.

The next round of U.S.-Russian arms talks would follow Obama's expected announcement that the United States' arsenal of strategic warheads can be reduced unilaterally to around 1,000 warheads. That position is expected as part of the Pentagon's long-delayed Nuclear Posture Review implementation study that Obama was expected to sign earlier this year.

Recent press reports have indicated that President Obama may make the cuts -- fully one-third of the nation's arsenal -- by executive action and without Congressional authorization.

Specialists on nuclear deterrence say further cuts beyond the 1,550 deployed warheads mandated by the 2010 New START arms treaty could undermine the United States' ability to deter nuclear powers like Russia and China, who have significant modernization programs for their nuclear arsenals underway.

Further cuts also are likely to embolden other non-nuclear states, including Japan, to consider building their own nuclear arsenals, analysts say.

Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney said the administration is seeking to unilaterally disarm U.S. nuclear forces, something that is "the most dangerous thing I have ever seen an American president attempt to do."

"This is not the time to embark on such a dangerous path, with China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea increasing their nuclear forces," he said.

A U.S. official familiar with strategic nuclear policy said the delay in signing the implementation study may be the result of concerns among military commanders in charge of nuclear deterrence that China's nuclear arsenal is expanding more rapidly than anticipated,

After everything is said done, tales of woe about to over run the political landscape, scandal, scandal and more scandal, talk of impeachment, resignation, every, any crisis ready to take the administration down to the fiery depths of Hades, the president still has options available to him that would extract vengeance against America for whatever political price we end up making him pay.

No matter what, whether forced to resign, impeached, what have you, this man Obama is not one to go gently into the good night.

He is a vindictive, malevolent, Machiavellian creature, who harbors deep resentment, contempt for America who will still have the means, capacity to extract his pound of flesh before leaving office, if need be, by cutting our nuclear arsenal by presidential decree with no stopping him as detailed in he article to the point where we would not have the capacity for MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction).

This not mere conjecture but a real-world scenario as discussed in the article that should give every American a terribly long pause for thought.

Everything Obama tries to do needs to be frozen until Benghazi, Fast&Furious, the IRS, the AP and EPA issues have been aired out.

Amazing how much he’s doing without any input from Congress.

Almost like he’s a dictator.

I don’t want him to be able to announce anything. I want someone to duct tape his face shut.

Given the pace of things in the Middle East, events may get ahead of him. But for a guy who couldn’t even read the security situation in Benghazi with any accuracy, how is he to judge the strategic balance between former, current, and nascent superpowers?

If O’Lenin lasts until 1916 I suspect the US nuclear arsenal will be at 0 and Russia and China will gently start making suggestions that will morph bit by bit into demands and then into “or else” orders. Or maybe they will calculate the situation and go straight to DO THIS OR DIE.

Obama will go for the permanent crippling or destruction of the US before the end of his term. The more he feels threatened, the more openly radical his actions will become.

Japan should be working hard on the project right now.Waiting until the US is helpless to start will be dangerous. Without nukes Japan will lose territory, probably even Okinawa. For starters..

His cuts will result in losing our nuclear tri-ad.

Manned bombers gave us to ability to launch and then, if necessary, recalled at the last second.

Land-based ICBMs allowed for massive retaliation, huge strikes to obliterate those that would attack us with nukes.

Sea-based ICBMs allow for survivability of our nuke forces, the ability to strike back from a bolt-out of the blue strike from, say, China.

Now with his cuts, we will no longer have that capability, we have to cut off one of those deterrence/retaliatory legs.

Great.

By the way, the US has no nuclear weapons engineers that worked on nukes and experimented with them. They are all long since retired or passed, so the US is now decades behind other nuclear powers (and those working to obtain nukes) when it comes to R&D, improvements and advancing the stability and reliability of the weapon system.

Obummer is actively working to destroy this great country. . .and the slimy cowards (democrats) are marching off the cliff with him.

I swear, democrats would rather see this great country destroyed rather than lose political power.

How silly. Quit the fear mongering. Nothing like that will happen.

Oh wait.....

China lays claim to Okinawa as territory dispute with Japan escalates (2 star general quoted)
