Lois Lerner, the IRS official now at the center of a scandal involving tax agents who selectively targeted conservative groups, is scheduled to receive an award and give the commencement address at Western New England University School of Law.
A spokesperson for the school said the university was aware of the controversy, but would still honor Lerner, who directs the agency’s exempt organizations division.
“Our plans have not changed at this time,” said David Stawasz, a spokesperson for the university, in an interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Ms. Werner has apologized for the actions of certain IRS employees. We are aware of the circumstances, but our plans have not changed.”
Lerner will give a speech and receive the Presidential Medallion at the ceremony on May 18. The medallion is awarded each year to one exceptional public servant.
“It is also intended to bring to the students of the College successful role models in a variety of fields to hear firsthand their important lessons in leadership,” according to a university press release.
In its announcement of Lerner’s award, the university praised her for enhancing transparency and promoting good government ethics at the IRS.
Lerner, a registered Democrat, recently admitted that under her watch, IRS officials discriminated against conservative and tea party groups, paying extra attention to their tax filings. It is unclear how much top government officials, including President Obama, knew about these practices.
My brother, a natural born American citizen if there ever was an agreed upon definition of one, has to pay out-of-state tuition for his daughter to attend college in N.Y, but an illegal alien can get in-state tuition, if he pays any tuition at all, for his/her “dream act” kid.
People who follow the rules are starting to wonder why they should follow the rules.
This is a bad thing if you believe that respect for the rule of law has been one of the most important reasons for our country’s long-term prosperity.
Un-freakin-real...Absolutely disgusting. Like I was saying in another thread, the commies have control of the wheel and they ain’t letting go. It’s going to be a long hard road to get them the hell out, especially with all the morons in this country who keep electing and reelecting them. Hopefully this stuff with Benghazi and the IRS will get the Kenyan impeached but I ain’t holding my breath, especially with this RINO party we got today. I don’t even have to guess that once again they are going through the motions and this will all be forgotten about in a month or two.

Hell, give her the Noble Peace Prize while they are at it.
And Western New England calls her a “Rock Star”. May be more like breaking rocks if she gets convicted. I wonder what the cover of their magazine will look like after this investigation.
