Hollywood couldnt have scripted it better: A rebel group of engaged activists, derided and harassed by authorities, becomes the obsession of a powerful political machine, leading to the demise of the machine.
Now, because todays Internal Revenue Service scandal involves rebellious conservatives pitted against a progressive government, this true story is not likely to hit the big screen. However, given the fact that misuse of the IRS was one of the charges that brought about the end of the unpopular Nixon administration, the irony of potentially having something similar happen to the press favorite president is sweet, indeed!
Frankly, I am a little stunned as to why this story is getting such attention now, as it has been known that the IRS was targeting conservative citizen groups for quite some time. In fact, over a year ago, Professor Jacobson linked to this piece I did: And So it Begins: IRS Targets Tea Party Groups for Special Attention!
Our own group, the Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition (SCTRC), had real challenges filing for tax-exempt status. SCTRC President Dawn President had this to say about the recent media scrutiny, No one gave seemed to care when SCTRC was refused 501c4 status long before this issue became news. We actually saw the writing on the wall then, back in 2009. I am very proud of us, and all the other Tea Party groups out there, who persevered in the face of this very daunting challenge.
And daunting it has been. As a citizen activist, once of my favorite organizations to recommend is True the Vote, a non-partisan organization whose sole purpose is to train poll workers to maintain voter integrity. Seems harmless, no?
However, during the groups quest to seek tax exempt status, founder Catherine Engelbrecht had her family business targeted....

Also, don't look for anything substantial to hurt Obama from Benghazi, or the AP wire tapping “scandal.”
The media has Obama’s back now, and always.
Oh, my no. With respect, I think that it already has hurt 0bama in a way he and his little gang of thugs weren’t expecting. When the media start to point their fingers at him and chant “You’re Nixon,” he’s done.
Agreed. A remote possibility is coming about that suggests the jig is up. We can hope. We can pray.
You're dreaming . . . snap out of it!
The scandal won’t hurt Obama (nothing is allowed to hurt any black person, even if they’re half black), but it is great to see libs bemoaning the fact that the “right-wing” conspiracy theorists were ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ALL ALONG.
Now they can’t look their (real) American peers in the face and defend him anymore.
I’ll be very surprised if Mooch gets anything more than a weekend getaway to Rehoboth Beach.
BO’s followers will not become more loyal, ad he won’t be getting new ones to sign up.
The truth of BG might seep out.
He won’t be masterminding grand plans, though under the radar he’ll be audacious.
2014 might be a prob for him and Cong.
Cong. members will avoid him in campaigning.
He’ll be wandering, at least some evenings, around the WH, Mooch pissed that her Marie Antoinette gig is up.
No more golf w Tiger (and what a disgrace he is)
And that’s just if this scandal stuff doesn’t “touch” him.
The AP will be leery of him.
The days of rallying around in support of abortion in gleeful shouts might be going away with Kermit the Horrible.
“When the media start to point their fingers at him and chant Youre Nixon, hes done.”
What does that mean, “he’s done”? He’s not done by a long shot; even if those that rule our airwaves allow some criticism of him, there is no legal mechanism to do anything to get rid of him. They have to get this into the dustbin of history in time for the mid-terms.
The Dems wanted, and still do, to destroy the Tea Party, who they view as their greatest political threat. The Tea Party is a real grassroots organization unlike the astro-turfed, union sponsored Dem groups.
There are millions of socialists who will gladly fall on the sword to save obama’s legacy.
Midterms?
I see the tone as like when Chief Brody says to the Mayor, “Larry, the summer is over. You’re the mayor of “shark city”. These people think you want the beaches open.”
Eighteen mtts is a long time in politics, but I think they’ll avoid being seen with him, the truth, being unforgiving as it is.
Ah, sword falling is for the virtuous; at least for the conflicted:
BRUTUS Farewell, good Strato.
Runs on his sword.
Caesar, now be still:
I kill’d not thee with half so good a will.
Dies
I have a Liberal colleague who on Monday asked *me* if I had heard of the IRS scandal. He said, and I quote, “That’s f**ked up, man. That’s just f**ked up!”
Abusing the IRS in this fashion cuts across ideological lines in ways Benghazi never will.
This is, in essence, the Clinton Gang versus Capone's Chicago boys, and BJ Billy has already been impeached once. It isn't unthinkable - impractical, maybe, but not unthinkable because they're thinking about it.
The MSM not only love Obama, I think they’re also fairly afraid of his Chicago thug style of ‘kill em’ till they’re dead’ politics.
Oh, come on:
1. As Rush brilliantly put it, they need to protect at all costs their money collection machine for Big Government & Socialism. Better to get it out in the open and let it blow over.
2. Smoke screen cover for Benghazi, AP / Justice Dept., and Jihadi bombers. This is something everybody will relate to, so it is the perfect foil to divert attention.
And the IRS is scheduled to have all our medical records and to decide who gets what kind of medical care starting next year?
