It saves the state millions in the cost of all the appeals..
More importantly, as far as Gosnell is concerned, it's a tougher sentence. Because of multiple SC rulings, prisoners on death row get far better treatment..meals, cells, exercise, privileges, TV, etc, than does the general population. In California, where prisoners are on death row for 30 years or more..at trial prisoners often REFUSE the deal..they'd rather be on death row than have life without parole..
