Ferals, being predators, do not attack those who may be armed. Unarmed prey is what predators prefer, be the predator on two feet or four.
Had that victim been armed, the likelihood is he would not have been attacked. Had the wife gotten out with a weapon in her hand, the attack on her also probably would not have occurred.
Note that if both females had been armed as well, the attack would have been even less likely.
As for “free events” I read, and agreed with Darkshire’s Letter. When the population becomes more black, leave. Amusement amongst Ferals is questionable, but obtaining necessities such as fuel may be necessary.
However, getting fuel can be accomplished if one is armed. In any case, far better to shoot a Feral than to be beaten or killed by a Feral. Should a riot begin, legal issues become secondary to escape.
I also avoid Feral habitats, but for business reasons I do have to occasionally enter the ‘concrete jungle’.
My point remains: Go when and where you wish, but be prepared. I don’t do business in Feral habitats on weekend evenings, for instance.
Eventually, America will have to deal with the Ferals, be they black, Messican, or Muslim. Feral is Feral.
Also, there will be many, many, questions about why you were in the “wrong” area and killed that nice young man just starting to turn his life around. You will be sued, attacked, and smeared in the press. A local cop killed a kid that was trying to steal the cops gun. That officer had to go into protection with his family to get away from the threats, lawsuits, and harassment. If you are not a cop, you don't get that level of protection.
I have vendors that will not call on clients if they are in certain areas. I know of a few who demand escorts in and out of the plants (fewer now, most of those plants left Chicago).
No one in power wants to deal with the feral. To many of their core assumptions are in the way. Similar situation in some of the Indian Reservations. If you get in trouble there, the police will feel sorry for you. The first question they will ask is “Why where you there?”
