Not sure what NOLA is like now -- haven't been there in more than 15 years, but 25 or 30 years ago, the cops were bigger criminals than the average street criminals, which is saying something.
I remember a case where one cop robbing a liquor store killed another cop who was working off-duty as security.
It really is a thoroughly corrupt city and BTW, totally Democrat.
I think that story was featured on ID channel.
I hated that city. I had to go there 3 times in 2 years on business. Apparently I drew the short straw every time. Corrupt, violent and really stupid. I own my own business now and I have avoided that town like the plague ever since. That town needed a toilet flush like Katrina but it just backed up the toilet.
I don't recall the liquor store part of the story (there really aren't any specialty liquor stores to speak of in New Orleans; you can buy hard liquor at the grocery or pharmacy). There was a cop who killed her own partner while he was working an off-duty security job at a Vietnamese-owned restaurant in eastern New Orleans. Wiped out all the family members who were working at the restaurant, too - except one kid who hid in the walk-in cooler and later fingered the shooter.
Do a web search for "Antoinette Frank" - I believe she's still wasting oxygen at Angola.
