You forget the saying, “the blood of the Christian marytrs is the seeds for new Christians”.

Those martyrs are witnesses for Christ and the the faith. This is why they were declared saints this past weekend.

Yet in the end, the Muslims have simply helped plant the seeds for new Christian believers because those martyrs gave witness to Jesus and the power of the Gospel as proven by the hugh growth of the Christian faith in the global south.

I've been to Otranto several times, it is very close to the former USAF base I was stationed at, San Vito de Normanni AB. Otranto it is one of the most beautiful places; a castle and medieval city on the coast where the Adriatic meets the Mediterranean sea.

The Cathedral there is actually made up of the bones of those 800 martyrs!
