It's been a rough end to what started out as a record-breaking season for openly gay characters on the small screen.
After a 2012-13 season that featured a record number of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender characters on TV, this past week's wave of cancellations may drastically alter those statistics.
Gone are shows that featured prominent gay story lines including NBC's The New Normal and CBS' Partners. Both were semi-autobiographical series about the lives of its nearly all openly gay creators -- Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler on the former, David Kohan (who's not) and Max Mutchnik for the latter -- and featured two happy, committed gay couples. Worth noting, half of both couples were played by openly gay actors -- New Normal's Andrew Rannells (opposite Justin Bartha) and Partners' Michael Urie (opposite Brandon Routh).

Every time someone use the term “gay” in reference to some homosexual, they are buying into the queer propaganda that homos are just nice, innocent and REALLY happy with their unnatural extravagance.
It had to happen, sooner or later.
It’s not so much the gay themed shows that offer a reality we all know is false, it’s the seeming inability of Hollywood to air a drama, suspense, or mystery show that dosn’t include the gratuitous gay interlude.
It’s become tedious. We now know we’re being preached to, and we don’t like it.
These shows seem to simultaneously malign religion, you know-the ubiquitous cleric who in the end becomes the perp, or the perps who are portrayed as justifying their evil with Christianity.
I would offer this analysis...the History Channel is killing network TV show options. No weird shows, no gay characters, just plain historical themes. I suspect the networks are in desperation mode right now and trying to figure an angle out to trip up the situation. At present time, you could bring the Beverley Hillbillies, and actually have a four-star hit on your hands.
Diversity = indroctrination
I would guess that most of us have friends or family who are gay, and we love and accept them. In some cases, we may know that they are gay, and in others, it may be a closely-guarded secret.
But their sexuality and/or bedroom practices aren’t the topic continually on-display in our everyday interactions, nor are we preached at that we are intolerant haters and bigots because we happen to believe in the traditional definition of marriage.
I don’t mind if a TV show character exhibits stereotypical gay affectations in a believable fashion, but I don’t want an agenda shoved down my throat every week.
Hope these idiots are learning a lesson about what most Americans want and don’t want to see as ‘entertainment’. (unlikely...)
To be fair, any drama featuring a small minority (blacks, homosexuals) goes into the tank. The American public (majority white and white-hispanic) don’t want to see a bunch of queens and drama queens hoking it up on the TV.
Interesting choice of words. It is like the whole country is being sodomized daily..
@PaleoBob:
Enjoyed your thoughtful post and agree with the sentiments expressed.
You love and accept disease-ridden boy-raping whackjobs?
Problem right there; buying the propaganda, enabling the predators.
The History Channel’s agenda is more subtle, particularly in its representation of Biblical events. Their aim is to use ‘science’ to plant seeds of doubt into nominal believers who are not fully grounded in their faith.
If Modern Family and Glee are highly rated programs then they are good television; they obtain and keep an audience - no more, no less. Good television wins the day every time it’s tried.
Just disconnect the TV. No cable, no satellite, no network. It’s all trash, monies going to people who spread perversion. I’ve not had outside TV in over 6 years and do not miss it. I find I have more time.
Nope.
I love my family, who was given to me by God.
And I love my friends, who are chosen very carefully by me, based upon their personalities, the love and consideration they show their contemporaries, and how they treat me.
Based upon the words you use in dealing with someone you've never met and talked to, it's unlikely that I'd choose you to have as a friend.
Crawl back under your rock, lobster...
As FReeper JohnO says, gays can't reproduce, so they recruit.
Hollywood is trying to change the perception of reality to portray that gay is everywhere and a large percentage of people are gay. Reality tells us it about 1.5 percent of the population.
The sodomites are not just pushing a new normal to be accepted. They are laying the ground work for recruitment.
How many times were the words “queer/homosexual” used in these comments? Is it no longer legal to do so? Just asking.
Homophilia is just not that rampant around the nation, as the Homophiles want us to believe.
The over-air networks are getting hammered by the Spanish networks in many cities....and the Spanish networks aren’t pushing Homophilia. More like HottiePhilia with those Latina gals
It’s that bad Capitalism again. No money to support it? Soooooo sorry to see the sodomists go/s.
Sounds like you’re over-run with packer/munchers. Most of the ones I knew died from their chosen deathstyle before they were 50.
God didn’t make those choices, they did...and Satan helped.
Next thing you’ll be telling me is they’re not a bunch of atheists.
Has Ellen Barkin been heard from yet?
