It seems that certain areas of Michigan have much more gun violence than other areas despite not having greater gun ownership per capita. What do the areas of Michigan that have high gun violence have in common? Are there demographic similarities?

Everybody I know in Michigan’s UP is armed to the teeth. Maybe the pasties, whiskey, saunas and Finnish sisu keep them from killing each other.
