This is like when the back door of a Brink’s truck opens up and money goes flying. Cops come on TV later that day: “We have secret video cameras and have you on tape. You better return any money you picked up, or else! Yea, you better do that, you better turn it all in!”.

The lower receiver is already out there. That’s the part that is defined as the “gun.” The rest of it is attachments and peripherals.

(Obama's birth certificate was found stapled to Soros's receipt.)
To: BerserkPatriot
Here’s how things work know:
you cover up for Obama until he gets elected
you lie/ignore facts that challenge his eligibility
you have the IRS target conservative groups
you lie/cover up about Benghazi
and
you force 3D printed gun plans to be taken down.
None of which is ethical, even if borderline legal, but you do what it takes first, and only explain or “apologize” later if you get caught.

Meaning that you can no longer transfer a known technology from one American to another? Very strange universe we live in, apparently.
Transfer a known technology from an American acorss an international border? The same laws pertain to copies of any number of commercial software packages, which I'm sure have never been purchased over the counter at Office Depot, Radio Shack, etc. A crappy little .22, however? Call out the police! Call out the National Guard! Call out the SEALS!

I don't know. Where or how do you draw the line? This thing opens up a whole bunch of questions. What constitutes "weapon technology".
- Certainly posting it on the internet allowed transfer across an international border, so that probably does give the Gov't a stronger case.
- Gun design is known technology. So is 3D printing. Marrying the two seems such a small incremental advance. on the other hand, they've been talking about this likelihood for months and only now have a viable weapon.
- What technolgy is not weaponizable in one form or another?

Your last sentence makes my point. IMO, the only reason the State Department is involved is because this is a favorite lefty cause.

If you chew a pop tart to look like a gun, take a picture and text it into a gun free zone you are looking at 10 to 20 years minimum. Make sense?

The same way the Left got it’s knickers in a twist about the “Anarchist Cookbook”, back in the late 60’s, IIRC....
crickets....
As a poster on another thread mentioned:
“We were in Des Moines last weekend at the State Historical society. They had on display a primitive cannon where the barrel is made of wood and then it was wrapped the entire length in wire to give its strength.”
Looks like ATF, State Dept, IRS, etc need to raid the State Historical Society in Des Moines!
