Where do they get the authority to ‘order’ someone around?

That’s what I thought: US State Dept doesn’t know beans about how our gov’t is supposed to run or maybe it doesn’t matter in a dictatorship? What difference does it make?

Evidently it's the DOD weapons export law. 

OK, so the US military should have the right to stop foreign enemies from getting US defense technology, but this is clearly a political issue that has nothing to do with defense.  I mean, next they could use the law to shut down the freerepublic because someone here said the pentagon was in Washington and somehow that was supposed to be a secret.
