The Orania Rebels, a rugby team from the unofficial Afrikaner state in the Northern Cape, is not a whites only team but an Afrikaners only team.
"It is an insult to call this a white team – it's an Afrikaner team," Quintin Diederichs, the executive head of the Orania Rebels told the Mail & Guardian.

One of the more hilarious experiences I’ve had in South Africa was in Cape Town in 2011 when I saw an argument between an ‘Afrikaner’ White South African colleague of mine and her parents over her decision to marry an ‘English’ White South African. The vitriol was thick, and what was hilarious about it is how humans will find differences even at the granular level. Here I am, a black guy in the midst of this Afrikaner group, being treated very well (great food and wine) while they insult fellow whites in a manner that was quite bad for my colleague (she was crying). Why the insults? Because a long time ago one group of whites came from the Netherlands and the other from England. Really amazing. As an aside it is extremely easy to differentiate an Afrikaner from an ‘English’ ....the accent. The Afrikaners have a very strong R for example with a thicker accent, while the English could be from darn anywhere (would make good spies since at different points in the conversation they will sound anything from American to Aussie). All are good people though and like fine dining. Best meat in the world.

Still bad blood between Afrikaners and Anglo-South Africans due to the boer wars over a century ago. The British put ‘em in concentration camps (including women and children) to win the war.
Afrikaners should pick up American football. They’re big and strong.
