Via Greg Hengler. Like former NYT chief Bill Keller, I cant see any pitfalls ahead from the White House being at odds with the UN on WMD while it plans war against a Middle Eastern regime.
Further to Eds post this morning, heres a crafty theory I saw floated somewhere on Twitter last night to possibly explain why the rebels, rather than Assad, are suddenly tossing chemical weapons at their enemies: What if an Assad ally, like Iran or Russia, gave it to them? The longer the war drags on, the greater the risk of western intervention; if, like Moscow or Tehran, youre rooting for the regime, that intervention is an unhappy prospect. The only way to force the west to keep its distance might be by making the rebels so politically toxic that the White House simply cant sell a partnership with them to the American public. You would think the fact that the rebel ranks are teeming with jihadists would be enough to ensure that, but no: The administration will find someone among the opposition with whom it can do business, or rather someone it can point to for purposes of domestic politics as someone with whom it might potentially do business. Phase two, then, if youre pro-Assad/anti-intervention is to ratchet up the taboo another way maybe by feeding a small amount of chemical weapons to some of the nuttier elements among the rebels and hope that they sabotage their western support by using them.
Lots of flaws in that theory, though.

Video: White House highly skeptical of UNs finding that Syrian rebels, not Assad, used chemical weapons
Sadly, half of America has good reason to be skeptical of the Whi te House
As if...
I bet obie won needs to be led to the bathroom.
Well, Duuhhh!
Is it more likely that an al-Qaeda affiliate used Chem Weapons or Assad?
Obozo has been directly supporting al Qaeda affiliated terrorists. What do you expect?
Let’s see if this comes up on Wednesday.
Smoke em out.
“Our friends in the Muslim Brotherhood are pure and holy Jihadisdts, peace be upon them.” the spokeman added.
Of course the loons in “the White House” are a heck of a lot loonier than those at the UN.
This “civil war” is a lot like WWII, when NAZI Germany attacked Stalin’s Soviet Union. You just can’t root for one over the other... The best thing is to just let them fight it out! Let evil combat evil!
Interestingly enough, the political left was perfectly fine with allowing Hitler to conquer Europe, right up until Hitler attacked “Uncle Joe.” Then the left demanded that the US get involved against Germany.
The fact is that the “rebels” aren’t like the rebel alliance in Star Wars... The rebels are associated with Al Queda, or other similarly murderous groups. While it’s sad that civilians are stuck in the middle of the fighting, the best thing that can happen would be for them to stay at war for the next couple of decades.

LOL. Rebels uploaded tons of videos of captured Syrian military structures all over Youtube, but WH is skeptical.
It is really hard to admit that your beloved “freedom fighters” of Al-Qaeda can actually use chemicals they’ve put their hands on.

U.N.: Syria rebels may have used sarin
A U.N. official says there are strong suspicions that Syrian rebel forces have used the deadly nerve agent sarin gas in the country’s civil war.
Carla Del Ponte told an Italian-Swiss TV station that the findings come after interviews with doctors and Syrian victims now in neighboring countries.
Del Ponte, the commissioner of the U.N. Independent International Commission of Inquiry for Syria, said the notion isn’t surprising, given the infiltration of foreign fighters into the Syrian opposition.

“Sadly, half of America has good reason to be skeptical of the White House.”
Actually, it’s 100%. But about half are willfully blind.
Yes, he can! Yes, he can!
