Yes he was. He refused to take Texas out of the Union during the Civil War. Was ostracized for it and went to live with the Indians in OK.

After the CW he looked much wiser. But the state grew rapidly after the Occupation of the Deep South during Reconstruction.

They went GTT.

I think a lot of us both north and south feel the same way about states rights and preservation of the union. They don’t need to be mutually exclusive.

At this point I think Obama would like nothing more than to see America split up into multiple bite sized pieces.

Yes, they did do much better during that time.

On my father's side from VA, headed out to MO for a time, some of the sons headed off to both TX and OK, others hung out in KS and we are still in the area.
