Rainy weather hits Central, Southern California

LOS ANGELES — Rainy weather in Central and Southern California is making roads slick and proving a mixed blessing for crews fighting a huge wildfire.

A storm dumped less than a tenth of an inch of rain to around a quarter-inch overnight in most areas.

Here in far Northwest Orange County (Just south of Long Beach) we had rain over night and nice shower just passed thru in the past few minutes.

We’ve got rain this morning from Chico, CA to Sacramento. At least, it was a wet drive from Chico.

And from the GOES satellite image looks like Norther California is getting more ...than is Southern California.

I think we were closer to the 1/4 inch mark if not more. It was coming down pretty good for quite a few minutes...raining and blowing....

It looked like it might this morning, and now we have this enormous blue hole around us as far as we can see.

In fact, we will be heading out for our daily walk.

Attention Californians...Kansas City got something like a foot of snow a few days ago.They would have preferred to have gotten 1/10th of an inch of rain.

We had a Nor-Easter in NE Florida last weekend and had up to 15” of rain over a 2-3 day period.

I haven’t read the article yet, but any rain in CA is a good thing right now because they were predicting a return to drought conditions and renewed water rationing. Remember a few years ago when the the whole inland valley dried up and all the orchards and farm fields died?

Yes, CA desperately needs the rain, as do we in FL. Even with the deluges, we’re still behind average for the year by almost 3”.

Good thing the soil is sandy here - it all goes away amazingly fast.
