Not many higher sainted words than: “I’m a single mom...”
It confers victim status with a twist of anti-male coloring and a hint of feministic “freedom/power”.
I have heard tha phrase pulled like a gun many times. It’s like it’s an excuse for everthing when it shold be viewed as the problem.
Those used to be words of shame. Now they're almost always spoken with arrogant pride, as though getting knocked up by some deadbeat were some kind of achievement.
Oh, yeah... there’s a whole bravado male-bashing intent behind the words “single mom”.
I have a family member who posts graphics daily touting single motherhood (the guy was a loser and left her). The graphics say stuff like, “I’m one heck of a woman because I’m the father and mother to my child.” or something like that.
Gag inducing.
