Israeli security forces caught three Palestinian Authority Arabs near Kibbutz Migdal Oz in Gush Etzion on Sunday night. The three were found to be carrying improvised weapons and knives.

Migdal Oz is literally across the highway from the South entrance to Efrat. Close to home for me.

There is an exhibit there. A trench where bodies are buried where Arabs murdered an entire settlement and then threw the bodies in.

Kfar Etzion? They wouldn’t let anyone in to bury the dead until the 1949 cease fire agreement.

I know the grandson of a doctor who was spared. She and the rest of the survivors were transported to Hebron, where an angry mob was waiting to lynch them. The Mukhtar, however, threw down his lance in front of them and dared anyone to cross it in order to do his guests harm. Nobody did. It pays to have a Mukhtar nearby with a sense of decency. They were later transported safely back to what was left of Israel after 1948. Her grandson now lives in Bat Ayin Bet in—you guessed it!—Gush Etzion, and under threat of bulldozers.

Can’t afford a gun just yet. The fence is easy to get past. I do it regularly, walking through a vineyard. But I’m far from the perimeter, and we have mezuzot on all our doors.

Interesting! I thought the idea of the mezuzah was to comply with Deu 6:9 “You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates”. But I’ve just googled “mezuzah protection” and read about the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s explanation on how the mezuzah protects a home! Thanks, you are helping me find out new things everyday!

I visited Kfar Etzion last summer when I toured Israel. I heard the heinous gutwrenching tale of such bestiality of the Arabs murdering the settlers of Kfar Etzion, it was almost too horrible to believe. Tears poured down my face relentlessly at the telling of it. Here is an excerpt of the fall of Kfar Etzion from http://www.tzion.nl/page/gush-etzion-brieven:

May 13, 1948 The Arab offensive continued. Its major force was directed against Kibbutz Kfar Etzion. Attack upon attack was rebuffed by the Jewish defenders in the course of the morning. About noon the Arabs finally succeeded in penetrating the northern gate of the kibbutz. As the armored vehicles stormed into Kfar Etzion, the local commander realized that all was lost! After many months of siege and battle, no further possibility of maintaining the village. A ceasefire was sought in order to save the life of the defenders. The exhausted defenders left their defence posts and handed over their ammunition as directed. They assembled in the heart of the kibbutz near the former German monastery, where they were to be photographed before being prisoners of war. They were suddenly fired upon. In desperate struggle which ensued, only four survived. Following the heroic battle and terrible massacre, Kfar Etzion was pillaged and destroyed. Last moments at Kfar Etzion A photographer dressed in European clothes and wearing a white kaffiyeh came on the scene and photographed us... When the photographer had finished, fire was suddenly opened upon us from every directon. Most of the assembled were hit... I jumped into a ditch near the school.... It was an officer of the Legion who saved me. He solemnly promised that he would do me no harm. When the battle subsided, the officer took me back in the village and demanded that I show him where the arms caches were. When we passed by the doorway of the shelter under the German monastery, he put a grenade in my hand, pulled out the pin and ordered me to throw it into the shelter. I held the grenade in my hand, for I was prepared to kill myself rather than to obey his order. The officer took it from me and threw it himself into the shelter.......

Here is a photograph of the very bunker (the "shelter") where that son of Satan hurled the grenade. The bunker was full of wounded and other helpless Jews, about 50 in all.

I just saw this pic for the first time. How common are signs like this one? I reckon it is easier to place a sign by the road than to remove the problem, right?

This is the first I’ve seen one, and I regularly tramp (hitch hike) around an Arab village right outside Alon Shevut at the Old Gate. Perhaps they’re friendlies.
