His most infamous work was his "news" presentation alleging that George W. Bush went AWOL from the Air Force National Guard. It was totally concocted out of thin air and was televised in the heat of the 2004 presidential campaign. IIRC, a FReeper proved beyond a doubt that documents presented by Rather to his CBS audience were forged!!!
