Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) isn’t the biggest supporter of Vice President Joe Biden’s self-protection advice unless you’re protecting yourself from angry birds.
While speaking at the NRA-IRL Leadership Forum part of the 2013 National Rifle Association Annual Meetings in Houston, Texas the Republican mocked Biden for his recommendation to just fire a shotgun in the air.
“I have to note, by the way Vice President Joe Biden did have some very helpful advice on this issue,” Cruz told the crowd on Friday. “You know, he said if your house and your family are ever under attack, all you need to do is go outside with a double-barreled shotgun and fire both barrels in the air which is very, very useful if it so happens that you’re being attacked by a flock of geese.”
The Texas Republican also challenge the Vice President to an hour-long debate on gun violence and ways to solve it.
I would like to invite the vice president to engage in an hour-long conversation and debate, How do we stop crime,” he said, to applause from the audience.
Cruz added that Biden should “welcome the opportunity to talk” if the facts were really on his side.
Biden indicated this week that he was continuing his push for gun control legislation, even though he hasnt really discussed it with President Obama yet.
Most cities have an ordinance against discharging a firearm within city limits. If there is no body on your property YOU will go to jail. Saying I fired a warning shot won’t cut it unless you are on good terms with judge.
Let’s not forget, what goes up must come down (learned that at a young age squirrel hunting).
But Biden said to shoot the shotgun into the air not at an assailant.
Biden also suggested firing blindly through doors.
Ted breaks out a can of sarcastic whoop-ass yet again. If Cruz had been debating Biden last year, instead of Paul ‘Homo-adoption’ Ryan, this clown wouldn’t have been smiling by the end.
with a 12 gauge its even easier....
Know what you mean. When I was in Austin a few years ago on the 4th of July there were some idiots shooting in the air and I had the shot OO buck land on the roof. Found them in the rain gutter in the morning.Stupid fools.
Thanks smoothsailing.
THIS is how one defeats progressives... THIS is how we use alinsky against them... and this is the man.

He should have stuck with shooting up in the air. Now he's got the Girl Scouts worried.
So far, I think Cruz rocks
Heads up, before some rube discovers that Cruz said a good word for Lindsey Graham last night to a big GOP gathering in South Carolina.
Graham was sitting right there in the room. The only thing Cruz said was to thank Graham for helping defeat gun control. Cruz went on to effusively praise Jim DeMint and Tim Scott. I did not take his Graham comment as an overall approval, but apparently he believes Graham was good on guns and said so.
Point is, our own side will start to cut Cruz down if at all possible. And I mean “conservatives” here, not RINOS in DC although they will, too.
I watched the whole SC speech on C-Span. It was a doozy. But watch out for one sentence taken out its context in an attempt to make it appear that Cruz is Grahamnesty’s twin.
Thanks for the heads up, tx. These phony “purists” on FR that nitpick good conservatives are troll embeds, IMO. LOL!
Some of them have to be embeds.
I don’t doubt that some of them, too, really are the purists that will never find a candidate they can back - unless that candidate is there at the expense of somebody else who is a real winner. They have to cut up the field because that’s who they are. Then they will advocate multiple other parties so that everyone is so sliced and diced up, true RINOS win, then true Left Radicals win.
Then they can moan and whine and cry in their beer and threaten uprisings to their hearts content.
Right now I’m fine with 3 names, but only one of them can get the prize, if any of them do.
Are there possibly others besides these 3? There’s got to be. But limited to these 3, I’m bound to be somewhat conflicted because one of them can win only at the expense of the other two.
They are:
Rick Perry
Ted Cruz
Sarah Palin
I won’t divide our forces in a battle over any one of them.
A certain two of them could make up a ticket. But Perry and Cruz could not, for obvious reasons.
You named my three favorites!
The attacks on Palin and Perry here have been disgusting. They were my top ticket for 2012.
