Good evening, Biggirl!

The Fothergilla gardenii (Dwarf Fothergilla or Dwarf Witchalder) are in fragrant bloom, right now:

Plus, their fall color is spectacular and unmatched by any other shrub:

It's a relatively dwarf-growing (3-6"/yr) shrub, which attracts the Praying Mantis (Mantis religiosa) egg case (chrysalis) on its stems, hatching-out 50-100 babies each:

That is why I had seen years ago what looked like a funny looking brownish mud ball surrounding a green strub. It was a praying mantis egg casing
