Yolanda Araujo stood at the front of a crowd of marchers today in downtown Los Angeles carrying a cardboard sign bearing the words "Resident Alien" and having a large cutaway for her own face, as if the card was her own she herself was an immigrant who had received legal status.
In Spanish, Araujo declared she was marching to send a message to President Barack Obama, who has called for legislation that would allow many of the estimated 11 million immigrants who have entered the country illegally the possibility of acquiring citizenship
Making her declaration, Araujo stood in front of a crowd of marchers who carried a banner emblazoned with the message "Full Rights for Immigrants." The gathered marchers began their procession in Los Angeles shortly after 1 p.m. today, with some dancing and others chanting "Si se puede" or other phrases as the demonstration began.
"Los inmigrantes somos importante," chanted members of an LGBT group that marched with the immigration-rights activists in Los Angeles.
Widespread expectations that Congress will soon act on major immigration legislation united crowds of demonstrators who gathered here and elsewhere in support of policies that would allow millions of people who are living in the United States illegally to pursue citizenship.

I have lived in New York City (for work) for 10 years..thats when I first joined Free Republic (Freeper since 1998! no matter what timeline says..)
Today was a eye opener....I walke a good 15 minutes to my highrise office building (no I dont have in office parking...its corporate/politcal issue - so stupid...sigh) and I'm used to the street beggers/homeless/freaks/whatever hitting me up for money on my daily walk to office...most of the time its simply dont make eye contat and keep walking and they simply stay away.... Today so different! OMG. I had one "homeless" (hate that word)older black man follow me across street yelling at me to "give me money..give me MONEY..I NEED some MONEY.." another white very guy (also street/druggy) noticing that I didnt respond to crazy old black guy started yelling at me and followed me almost to my office, once outside my building ANOTHER freak "asked" for money......again I'm not easily put off my game but this was really weird. I work in the Business / Financial District of dwnt LA (not the scummy part of downtown) and I have never had this in your face. Yes Im female, blond/white and dress well...but really? this was unreal.
listening to “conservative” Michael Medved go on yesterday I think he should join them (if he didn’t already) and I’ve pretty much decided not to listen to him anymore as a result. Sickening.
And expect to see more of the self-entitled demand that you hand over YOUR hard earned moned to pay for THEIR bad habits...
“Widespread expectations that Congress will soon act on major immigration legislation united crowds of demonstrators who gathered here and elsewhere in support of policies that would allow millions of people who are living in the United States illegally to pursue citizenship”
They mean allow them and their anchor-babies to vote for DemoRats indefinitely...
There is nothing noble about being an illegal immigrant or an aggressive panhandler. liberals extol both “lifestyles” so America can become a nation of lazy criminal bums.
They can get pretty aggressive from time-to-time in downtown Atlanta as well.
You mean ‘loyalty day’ as ob@ma has declared it.
Is that picture approximately when the guy with banner, second from right, asked his friend on the far right ‘who’s the gringo with the camera?’
Just before they about killed me, except for the cops in the background I’d be dead.
I’ll add my voice to the demonstration, I demand immigration reform also! I demand that they enforce the immigration laws, now that would be real reform!
Get one of these ..
.. and a Kimber pepper blaster.
Don’t carry a purse. Get a backpack and put your purse in that. Wear a coat with large pockets to hide the pepper blaster.
Immigration reform? Yes.
Start with making the first priority the encouragement of immigration by skilled and accomplished persons with work experience in the sciences and engineering. Persons with a great deal of acumen in the business of finance are also acceptable, but no more restaurant workers to bus the tables and wash the dishes. Leave something for those who cannot pay the bill after they order the expensive meal and come up short. And for sure, there is no need for former camel jockeys to take up the trade of driving taxis. Leave that for the home-grown mafioso types.
Let crops rot in the field, or wither on the vine, rather than import more stoop-labor people, unless there is provision to bus them back to their country of origin once the job of harvest is completed.
Persons who are agitators in their home countries are not welcome here, either. Troublemakers should be treated as pariahs wherever they may go, and if they cannot be content in their own land, there is little chance they shall achieve satisfaction here.
I say, when they are caught in the dragnet, put a microchip in their ankles before releasing them again. Then, when they try a little crude self-surgery to remove the chip, we shall know them by their limp.
Hi thank you for this but my apologies I dont know what / how that “baton” thing works? I have client interfacing office job (entertainment/high profile) and wear dresses and at least 5’heels daily..
I totally agreee. You would be a marcher of “one” in this parade...;)
Pepper Shooter is effective at 20 to 30 ft.
If that doesn’t work use steel telescoping baton. Whip it out and threaten to smash their skull if they don’t back off. Wear tennis shoes and keep your heels in your backpack till you get to the office.
I’m assuming a concealed carry permit is not the easiest thing to obtain in CA.
Too bad my uncle wasn’t still in SoCal. He looks Hispanic/American-Indian (because he IS American-Indian). He could have run better cover in that group.
He moved out in ‘00. Said the place reminded him of South Africa in the mid-late 80’s. Time to get out before the rush.
May Fools Day!
Correct. CA is "May Issue," which means you can carry concealed if the county Sheriff feels like letting you. I like AZ. I carry everywhere, no permit required.
Are they going to start letting whites immigrate back into L.A.?
