Koch brothers want to make
your newspaper their megaphone
L.A. Times ^

The people of Los Angeles would be up in arms if some out-of-town billionaires tried to buy the Dodgers and institute a rule that only right-handers could play on the team. Petitions would be signed, protests would be organized and politicians would rise up to condemn the sale. It would be nice if there were a similar outcry at the prospect of the Koch brothers buying the Los Angeles Times. After all, as exciting as it may be for a city to have a major league sports team, a good newspaper is a far more valuable asset.

Leftists are such incessant whiners.Red diaper doper babies seldom mature past the diaper stage.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if conservative journalists and columnists could get good newspaper jobs as easily as leftists can.

Koch brothers want to make your newspaper their megaphone Yes, but that's the neat part of this. It's not like they're sneaking up on your porch early in the morning to steal your paper. They are actually trying to BUY the LA Times, and if they do, it won't be YOURS anymore.
There will still be a megaphone, it's just that now some other people will have a voice. A lot of people will find that refreshing, and if their new message is a flop, they'll lose the business too. That's how Econ 101 works.
See, your problem isn't the Koch brothers, it's your crappy yellow journal. If you liberals find yourself in a position where you have to sell your damn newspaper, or can't block the sale. then your message has failed.
Sorry, go commiserate with Al Gore.

Newspapers are withering away all over the country. Right and left. They may be billionaires now but it doesnt seem like they want to stay that way. How do you make a small fortune in the newspaper business?
Start with a large fortune.

Maybe they could just buy the paper, tear down the buildings, build whatever they want, and sell the equipment to China for scrap.

I wonder if the Koch Brothers do buy the Slimes, will we get to see the damning Obama video they've refused to release? If so, this might be why this is such a big deal.

It was my understanding the video belongs to the Slimes. They claimed it as intellectual property and as such, had no responsibility to release it.
