Heres what we think we do know about Thursdays local elections.
- The Conservatives will win the most seats; this is their territory
-The Conservative share of the seats will still drop most dramatically; the last time these were contested in the dog days of Gordon Browns premiership the Tories trounced Labour
Heres what we know we dont know.
- How well UKIP will do
Well theres a lot we dont know yet but number one is most important So how well might they do?
A ComRes Poll for The Coalition for Marriage released on Tuesday night suggested that UKIP could win a staggering 22% of the vote.
The same poll put the Conservatives on 31%, Labour on 24% and the Lib Dems on 12%.
Of course this is just one poll, but if UKIP do well at all they could seriously increase the number of seats the Conservatives lose.
As our Election Analyst Colin Rallings has said, the Tories are in line to lose more than 300 seats.
ComRes Poll results:
Conservatives 31% Labour on 24% UKIP 22% Lib Dems 12%.
More than 400 losses and David Cameron will have had a very bad night.
There was a time when it was thought that might have threatened his leadership, although there seems to be less of that kind of talk around now.
But a good showing for them would mark another step on the road towards UKIP becoming a new force in British politics, suggesting the next General Election will be fought not between three main parties but between four.
I hope so, they’re the last hope we have.
I love this man! “Take that, Mr. Barosso.”
I mean NIGEL!
Do you suppose that a strong showing by UKIP could result in a significant limitation to your immigration policy, or is too late for that?
Thanks for the links UK. Nigel Farage is quite an impressive fellow—not in the least infected with political correctness. After listening to him through your links, it’s clear to me that, if I were a Brit, I’d be voting UKIP in the upcoming election.
I wish you and the UKIP good luck and good fortune.
“UKIP” = what? “United Kingdom Independence Party?” United Kingdom Internationalist Party?”
Nice to hear from a patriot across the pond. It seems that your Conservatives are very much like our rinos—Republicans in name only.
Best of luck to UKIP!
This time around no,
but they have pledged to give us a referendum on EU membership which is what allows our open borders.
They want to pull us out of that.
The bigger they become the more likely that becomes.
You’re welcome, thank you.
UK Independence party.
They are, the fact they are in coaltion with a liberal party says it all!
We seriously need a “new” party...but the trick is it has to be made up of former members of the old party.
The LP and teh Constitution party won’t cut it, because they have never been real, actual political parties, but more like debating clubs. If even that.
We need a conservative party that is made up of people who understand and have actual experience in functioning as a political party.
Of course we are in a two-party kingdom, which makes it difficult....in any event, the UKIP is a great breathe of fresh air and it IS a functioning political party, with outstanding MEPs and a good organization. I hope it decimates the Conservative Party eventually!
Thanks for any UKIP info UKrep! I’m very excited about the rise of UKIP and have been following it for the last year or so.
You’re very welcome, election day today, very sunny day, I am expecting an excellent showing for UKIP! The maintstream media has been desperately trying to smear them all week, full on propaganda from even the so called right wing media.........but it has failed.
