Utterly tragic. Elephants have existed for a very long time in one form or another. Mastodons, wooly mammoths, todays elephants. Incredibly sad knowing that they will very soon be obliterated and will never again walk this planet. At least 25 thousand were slaughtered in 2012, and the rate of slaughter this year is even greater. And the more money more people in Asia get, the greater the demand for ivory. Elephants are very intelligent and understand the concept of mortality, and even understand the genocide being waged against them. An NPR special thinks 20 more years is far too optimistic and believes elephants will be extinct in less than 7 more years.

Sorry, I’m jaded about the whole endangered species thing.

Chalk it up to animal “rights” activists who cause untold misery among human beings — for whom the planet and its animals were created — over the supposed demise of minnows, spiders, salamanders, microbes, etc.

I pretty much don’t give a rat’s heinie what goes the way of the dinosaur any more. Except that I’d like to see every member of the animal “rights” lobby extinct.

I guess we should just kill all the Asians. Or better yet we should send all the guns we confiscate to the elephants and give them maps to Asia and provide transportation. They appear to be smart enough, if you believe the details of this story ,that they can take care of themselves if given the means.

This article is so damn stupid and wrong. There are millions of elephants left in Africa. There’d be a lot more if Africa wasn’t full of communist governments. There was excellent game management in Rhodesia, for example, until the Commie Mugabe took over.
