Is there a reason I should care? As long as he doesn’t marry his lover in a halftime ceremony I really don’t care.
Actually this is a great way to destroy football. At halftime of the Super Bowl have a massive wedding for gay athletes.

If an NFL player comes out as a homo, Bob Costas, no doubt, will give a long halftime editorial about the need for the sports community to accept homosexual players.

If you were an NBA player, you might care, as NBA basketball these days is a contact sport. When he gets special protected status and lawsuits start flying, and an informal affirmative action of sorts takes place, and baseball, football and hockey are pressured to follow suit, you might care.
Or not. You don't have to care.
