Kadyrbayev said that the individualized license plate was a joke gift from their friends in Spain. “This joke led to trouble. But it was just a gag of their Spanish friends, just a gift.” They needed the car to get to their university and go to other places.”...

You are not in control what gifts others give to you. However you are in full control of what you do with those gifts. Sure, they needed the car. We all need our cars. But somehow we don't have to wrestle with the decision about license plates. Guess what, the plates came with my car when I bought it! I'm sure this BMW also came with very legitimate license plates, obtained and installed by the dealer. That's what car dealers do for living.

It does not matter where the license plate came from; it could have been printed on a printer in their dorm room, or it could have been made in Karachi, by mullah Omar himself. The only thing that matters is that these idiots thought it just and proper to attach the plate to their car. What could have possessed them to associate themselves with terrorism? How would one even come across such an association? How many people receive a license plate that says "CHLDMLSTR" on it, or "THIEF," or "RAP1ST," and proudly register them as vanity plates? I'm not aware of any; but if I were to see such a thing, I'd become very concerned.

....”if I were to see such a thing, I’d become very concerned.”

As would I. But according to this father, it was fully intended as a joke. Perhaps not one we are able to understand, but I’ll believe that father before I believe the lies of this government.

Not only that, but Massachusetts (and Connecticut) both require FRONT AND REAR license plates. Where was the car registered?
