We do have the power to conduct hearings in the House of Representatives.
Why, why have we failed to exercise this power?

Because we have the Worlds Worst leaders in the House of Representatives. John Boehner is a drunken fool, go along to get along back slapping fool. And his entire leadership should be removed, tarred & feathered. They are all a disgrace.

I agree with you response to my question which was, of course, rhetorical but I would add that obviously speaker Boehner has a different agenda than conservatives generally, tea party members, and Louis Gomez in particular.

Either Boehner is philosophically in agreement with progressivism or he has made a calculation that Republicans can never win an argument and therefore should avoid them at all costs. Hence, we never see a showdown, there is no reckoning, the electorate is left to be indoctrinated by the media and we will go into the next election standing on a pile of mush.
