Breaking: Federal Investigators Now Believe a Third Terrorist May Have Been Involved in Boston

Megyn Kelly reported Friday that the bombs used in the Boston Marathon attacks had to be detonated via a ‘line of sight’ trigger mechanism. According to federal officials this could mean there was a 3rd bomber or accomplice who may have been involved in the attacks. The range of remote control parts is within at least 250 yards or less. The remote control parts are also NOT a part of Al Qaeda’s Inspire magazine instructions.

Federal investigators now believe a third terrorist could have been involved in the attacks.

Not exactly correct. If it was 2.4GHz, or higher, it would more than likely have to be LOS. Wifi has a pretty high data rate, but degrades quickly when LOS is lost.

Something low frequency, like 27 or 49 Mhz, would be capable of more than LOS, but 49 is getting up there in terms of becoming more LOS dependent (near HAM 6m band).

Wifi can only hit its highest rating at a short distance, LOS, and no obstructions. Wifi is 2.4GHZ and the 5.8GHz bands. THe only reason it works at longer distances is good error protection protocols, and encoding rate reductions as the ends detect degradation in the data quality.

Many remote cars nowadays are 2.4GHz. Only recently did I buy a toy that still used 27MHz, but it’s a recharger large sized helicopter.

Penelopesire and I had an OT conversation on another thread. She was thinking out loud about that very thing, asking: "I wonder if a triggering mechanism could have burned his hands?? "

I replied, "I have not a clue, but I do not recall any of the other wounded people having what these detectives identified as "burns.""

Our exchange caused me to search for more information about the BURNS because, after April 16th, later reports only refer to shrapnel wounds in the leg.

Below is the info I found. Posting it here because it may be of more value here since it really was OT on the other thread.

They think he may be injured, but it turns out that most of that [blood] is from other people. But he does have burns on his hands," said Miller."

However, we can't consider this as a confirmation because article is sourcing the same reporter without directly quoting him.

Hmmm....Found more detail from John Miller (according to Hot Air):

"But the pattern of his burns — mainly on his hands, Miller says — has investigators wondering what he was doing at the time of the blast."

Salon transcript from a C-SPAN interview with Steve Emerson:

EMERSON: I have been given privy to certain classified information.....the burns on his skin match the explosive residue of the bomb that exploded.

Salon goes on to trash Emerson, saying he had to retract, but if you watch the video, Emerson's only "retraction" is to say the Saudi has been cleared.

I wonder about where this originated. Who is the “ According to federal officials...”? Is it another leaker from within, or have they decided they’ll need a more elaborate scenario to make the Dumb and Dumber brothers look more believable? Or is someone getting anxious about all the attention on al-haribi (Sp?) so they’re throwing this out to distract?

But we are talking about a big city street. A corridor of buildings. Plus the receiver/transmitter is on the ground. And they likely used a very low cost radio system. I think the useful range in this case is probably short and line of sight. It wouldn’t be, if used in an open field, though.

Would have to look on the oppsite side of the street in a 360% line of sight.

Has ANYONE spoken to the woman carrying the balloons walking right behind the two Chechens right before the explosions? ... balloons can be seen rising to the left and behind one of the bomb sites.
