Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So its not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle. Obamas home state of Illinois, and not Arkansas, shares a border with Kentucky. Obama screws up a lot but this is not one of them. He didn't say "bordering state" he said "nearby". Southern Illinois is 60 -70 miles from north western Arkansas.

He was asked why she was doing better in KY than him. His answer was to point out how close AR is to KY... yet IL shares a border with KY and AR doesn't.

I think the point is it’s a lame excuse since Illinois is closer to Kentucky than is Arkansas, since Illinois and not Arkansas shares a border with KY.
