If all the so-called conservatives, including many on FR, hadn’t gathered around and started kicking him when he was down, tripped up by the lying liberal media, this never would have happened.

Don't blame Missouri conservatives and Freepers. They're the ones who still came through for Akin on election day. It's the less conservative, swing-voting middle that Akin sent fleeing and while they may not post here, they do decide elections. Akin's campaign was mortally wounded the moment he spewed this nonsense from his mouth and no amount of RNC money and conservative support was going to bring it back to life.

Todd Akin is a good example of the “controlled opposition” or “neutered opposition”. You would think that a capable politician would answer a question of rape with a dissertation on a woman’s Second Amendment Right to shoot the rapist full of holes. Instead, you get a retarded clone of Kent Hovind bleating about “legitimate rape”. Whatever that is.
