Try Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country instead. that was the one where the Klingons convicted Bones and Kirk.

Now in Star Trek IV, Kirk and the rest of the crew were on trial for disobeying the Federation. He was reduced in rank from Admiral to Captain and given command of the newly built Starship Enterprise. It seemed that saving the Earth from destruction made them give him a lenient sentence.
