I listen to the scanner online for most of the event. They were very clear” don’t shoot we are firing tracer rounds” I wasn’t sure if they were rubber. They spent 20 mins getting cops to move from behind the other houses in the line of fire. Then when they were all ready to assault the command post said “wait FBI HRT is going to take over” a voice said “Too late “ and another voice said “hold &HRT will handle assault “ then all the scanners went dead.
A fact to remember...the police thought possible the guy was wired with explosives....another reason they withheld firing live bullits.
Under the circumstances they handled this well IMO...remember they also used a robot to remove the cover on the boat.
These guys were throwing handheld bombs at the police in the chase...he could have certainly had onw in that boat as well.
