I cannot understand other men, who ridicule modest apparel for women and girls, only to later change their minds when they have wives and daughters of their own.
Reminds me of a woman I knew, who complained that her husband bought her skimpy outfits, then would accuse her of inviting the attention of other men.
Inconsistent, but understandable. When younger there is much more testosterone roiling around young guys are out "lookin for love" as the saying goes.
When older and have children they're naturally feeling protective of their daughters and no doubt remembering how their own minds worked at that age.
