I know of some inner-city high schools, where the administration is not exactly conservative, that have had to lay down the law on Prom dress codes in recent years.

Shame on the clothing manufacturers and designers who have pushed the edge of the envelope on slutty for teenage girls beyond what even they could stomach.

As long as losers and skanks will buy, they will sell it.

My daughter attends a public middle school in our little Ohio town on the border with W.Virginia. Girls are not allowed to wear strapless anything, and if they do, they have to wear a sweater or something else over it.

If they wear tank tops, the straps have to be two fingers’ width. No torn jeans (for anyone, male or female), and shorts, skirts, and dresses have to be a certain length—if you hold your hands at your sides, they can be no higher than the end of the middle finger.

You are right...the search for clothes for my teenage daughter is often frustrating. Even trying to find a decent dress for her for church is an exercise in futility sometimes.
