The uncle quickly disassociated himself from the family, while the father made threats to avenge his sons. All of the brothers' "friends" and acquaintances claimed that they didn't believe that these murderers could have been responsible for something like this.

Imho, the family is more complicit than they claim, and almost all of the "friends" never knew them at all. Why didn't they know them? Because these two never allowed them to. They were here with the goal of killing Americans.
