nextgen is a new set of technology and rules being phased in to make routes more direct and fuel efficient - it is a decades long implementation - funding is from the faa and it was increased this year - and NOT cut by the sequester
all the air traffic control towers closed are NOT government union employees - they are contracted out to private companies and (surprise) operate at a fraction of the cost of union leech towers
while my guys see absolutely zero problems closing those towers, the fact remains that obama does not know that - and he is willing to endanger citizens’ lives to push his political agenda - an accident at the airport - should one happen - almost is certain death
and yes - i know of one tower closing that we somewhat regularly use - tuscaloosa, alabama
the phased closing schedule was abandoned - and now all the towers will close on the same day - may 1 i think
