Four reasons why the Boston bombing is more shocking than you think
Rare.US ^ | April 21, 2013 | Jim Robbins

Rather than what was hoped – that this was an isolated, spontaneous and inexplicable act by two troubled young men – it appears that the Boston bombing was part of a long term, well planned, large scale effort by Islamic terrorists with foreign ties to bring jihad to U.S. soil. And if the plot was that extensive, the two most important questions now are, how did the U.S. government fail to detect it, and what else do terrorists have planned for this country that we don’t know about?

I'm not buying the "sophistication" and the "sleeper cell". Not just yet.

First, there's nothing necessarily "sophisticated " about pressure cooker bombs. A pressure cooker, some explosives, some ball bearings and nails for shrapnel, an ignition device.

Until we know more about the bombs' configuration, we can't conclude they were "sophisticated".

Second, if this was a sophisticated plan, with full sleeper cell support, why did these guys end up without cash and transportation when they discovered they'd been IDed by surveillance cameras?

Why no disguises or deception to foil the surveillance cameras? Why, instead,m the distinctive white cap, worn backward?

There were some very amateurish aspects to the plan and its execution.

Zakaria having a panel discussion just now on CNN , showed a map with hundreds of “terror deaths” happening since Boston ,”all over the world”, but very much centered on Mecca—Somalia, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India.Somehow, he couldn’t see the connecting factor. Then the whole panel , which included some pretty smart people, not David Corn- type hacks, comes up with the thesis that these were “two spiders “ but no evidence of a “spider web.” “As much like Columbine as London 7/7”-— all managed to ignore the warning from the foreign government 3 years ago. No questions asked about the explosives, the detonation methods, etc., etc. Or even how they got their guns in a state that I’d guess has restrictive background checks, if not other even more restrictions on gun ownership. If you’re willfully blind you can turn your eye in any direction and miss everything.

The reality is that we can do nothing to prevent these unless we start deporting these young men and denying them citizenship. In this instance, it sounds like he was radicalized after his initial entry and his citizenship.

That works for me.

CORRECTION: I COUNT SIX (6)

5. Obama administration SLASHED budget for domestic bombing prevention by 45 per cent…
Number #6
6 Immigration Reform , and subsequent follow-up interview (perhaps 1-2 years later) to include community integration and adjustment (by FBI /CIA agents ~ and not the incompetent Homeland Security boobs)

I concur.

Robbing greedy marts, running from the cops, jumping fences and hiding in backyard boats?

These guys sound more like your typical American hating foreigners, who the government has imported by the millions, legally and illegally.

The main thing that struck me about the Watertown event was how compliant the people were with the enforced lockdown and subsequent house-2-house searches. Was that optional or mandatory? Did some LE agency declare martial law or something? Was that even legal? The bigger question here is, what if this new terror threat matrix conditions people to submit, so they “can be saved/rescued” from the “Bad Guy?”

And I keep seeing eyewitnesses saying how scared they were; how they were “cowering in their houses for days”, etc. (I can’t imagine the fear they must have felt if they had no gun for self-defense. Talk about a helpless feeling.)

Somehow, i think if this event had happened in my neck of the woods, LE would have been competing with Bubba in their search. There is NO WAY people would be staying inside like that, nor could we be conditioned to do so. Anyone remember that photo after Hurricane Rita of the Houston neighborhood, where everyone on the street posed with a big sign and their gun-of-choice? Yeah, that’s how it would go down in the South. lol.

Oh, and if Bassin’ Bubba got his boat shot up... yeah, he would be VERY PO’d. Unless he’d done it himself, of course, in which case he’d be granted lifetime bragging rights. Lol.

“....how did the U.S. government fail to detect it, and what else do terrorists have planned for this country that we don’t know about?”

.
Why even raise those dumb questions when all they can state in this country is that islam is a ROP?

Go back to sleep America — you’ll wake when the first nuke goes off.

The Mosque leadership knows what they’re talking about — too bad ours doesn’t.

The good news about that “what difference does it make” picture of Hillary, is that it will be used to keep her out of the White House. People on the left, in the center and on the right, I believe, will never elect someone who doesn’t care about their safety. The ms media will probably never run it, but social media is more powerful now.

For anyone in flyover country, you only need to go to Coney Island Avenue in Midwood, Brooklyn NY.

In this case I didn’t hear anything directly either, probably for the same reason as you.

But I well remember Mayor Bloomberg himself saying about the foiled Times Square bombing attempt that (I paraphrase): maybe it was someone upset about the health care reform law.

Sure bloomy, because that makes sense.

Optional - a “shelter in place request”

It was a congested urban (or inner suburban) area.

If you got people off the streets it would be easier to see where the perp was.

In a rural area, there wouldn't be many people out on the streets so it wouldn't be such a problem, and lock-down wouldn't be deemed necessary.

I suspect urban/suburban areas wouldn't be that different in different parts of the country if there was a real crisis outside.
